Biography
Bill boards the Black Whale with Queen Oito, Woble and his colleagues. After the discovery of Woody's body, he accuses Kurapika of taking advantage of the Queen's trust. When other guards die and Kurapika interrogates them with his Dowsing Chain, Bill claims he was unaware of the War of Succession. He understands that the urn ceremony gave the princes parasitic Nen and shares his knowledge when several Guardian Spirit Beasts invade the room.
Although his true mission is the exploration of the Dark Continent, Bill promises to continue to protect Oito and Woble. After the manipulated Sayird kills Kurton and two immobilized guards, Bill holds him at gunpoint, but accepts Kurapika's decision to capture him alive. He then reveals that Kurton was essential to their escape thanks to his transformation into a vehicle, then explains Little Eye and the fallback solutions involving Beyond or Pariston.
The arrival of Vincent disrupts room 1014: Benjamin's soldier kills Sandra, then opens fire. Bill strengthens his guard with Nen, blocks the bullets and, with Kurapika's help, tackles Vincent to the ground. When he poisons himself, Bill tries in vain to make him spit out the poison. He finally agrees to hand over the body to Kakin's army after Kurapika shows him the earpiece worn by Vincent.
After calls from Benjamin, Zhang Lei and Tubeppa, Bill is given the task of monitoring Babimyna, Vincent's replacement. He stays with him while Kurapika accompanies Oito and Woble to Zhang Lei, then continues this surveillance after the arrival of Slakka, Hashito and Sakata.
Bill takes part in the search for an insect intended for Little Eye. When Oito spots a cockroach, Kurapika pretends to the guards that Bill is using a manipulation ability on the animal, while the Queen is actually controlling it. Bill plays along and then throws the cockroach into an air vent so Oito can spy on the next room.
After Oito's reaction to Momoze's death, Bill contacts his quarters and confirms that the princess died of asphyxiation without any entry having been observed. He worries that this affair will strengthen the other princes' desire to learn Nen, while recognizing that the courses could foster alliances. He organizes the arrival of their representatives and the Hunters, then watches over Kurapika and Oito for nine hours when they faint, hiding their condition from the other guards.
During Nen lessons, Bill secretly supervises Oito's training. After Barrigen is killed by Silent Majority, Kurapika tests him with the Dowsing Chain and clears him. Bill then accompanies him during Shimanu's interrogation, explains the difference between materialized snakes and snakes made of aura, then monitors the students when class resumes.
The next day, after Myuhan's death, Bill locks himself with Oito and Woble in the Queen's room. He reassures Oito by explaining that the murderer is targeting non-Nen users. Later, he accompanies Belerainte in front of room 1013 in order to cover the discreet transmission of his report.
When Halkenburg's rumbling aura manifests again, Bill helps Kurapika estimate its origin and becomes the second proctor of the water divination test. In the main chamber, he demonstrates Erigeron on a seed before Kurapika temporarily transfers his ability and part of his aura to the students to open their aura pores.
Bill fears that the powers handed out during classes will one day be turned against them. He admits to having chosen room 1014 because he believed it to be the safest, but explains that after the discovery of the War of Succession, he could not flee a position selected by cowardice. The exchanges between Kurapika and Oito finally made him decide to fully assume his mission.
On the tenth day, Bill and Kurapika receive Longhi for his initiation. She reveals that she has already mastered Nen, activates Moonlight Act and proposes a contract between the Woble and Tubeppa camps. Bill learns with amazement that she is a daughter of Beyond Netero, observes with Gyo the mark under his tongue and listens to his theory according to which Beyond fathered one of the fourteen princes of Kakin. He remains vigilant during the conclusion of the truce.
After Longhi's departure and Tenftory's divination, Bill understands thanks to the phonetic peculiarities of Kakin's language that Oito's pronunciation of Woble's name has changed. He then suspects an exchange of children. Tested with Kurapika's chain, Oito admits to having left the real Woble with his sister and that the baby in the room is his nephew.
On the eleventh and twelfth days of the trip, Bill agrees to protect Oito and Woble from the guards sent by Camilla during Nen's second class session. He stays in the main bedroom with Shimanu and watches as Kurapika demonstrates to Babimyna and Sakata the substitution of the child.
AURA PROFILE
Nen & abilities
Bill is one of the few male Enhancers known to possess supportive abilities. He knows how to identify parasitic-type Nen, a phenomenon Kurapika had never heard of, and he is competent enough to supervise Queen Oito's training.
His Ken is powerful enough to block at least four bullets fired at close range, although he was still slightly injured.
