Biography
Borksen is a first-class soldier, provisional Hunter and former comrade of Tserriednich at the Military Academy. When Otocin reveals that she knows about the NEN, Gipper uses a transfer request as a test and eventually swaps her position with hers, sending her from the royal sector to Tier 3.
Meeting Momolly, Otocin and their friends on a reservation, Borksen confirms that Theta is secretly teaching Nen in Tserriednich. She does not yet know the details of this power, but Theta and Salkov's reactions are enough for her to compare it to a weapon classified as a defense secret. She recommends that the group avoid Morena and cooperate with Xi-Yu or Cha-R.
On the twelfth day, Borksen participates in the meeting with the mafias. She explains that the soldiers cannot directly approach the Heil-Ly, who knows their faces. During Halkenburg's funeral procession, Dogman abducts her without any memory of the operation.
Borksen wakes up unarmed in Morena's cache, surrounded by six people but without physical ties. Morena offers him to join the Heil-Ly as a "compatible donor" and warns him that the negotiation will gradually increase the risks for both sides.
Morena imposes a deck of twelve cards. Its seven cards make it possible to question its objective, its power, the consequences of Yes or No and to obtain a contract. Borksen's five answers are Yes, No, Back, Joker and X. Each round, Borksen eliminates one question and then Morena randomly removes one of her answers, until only one remains.
Borksen immediately analyzes the system's pitfalls. X cancels the negotiation; Return retrieves an answer from the graveyard; Joker becomes Yes or No. She also understands that the game is both an initiation, a compatibility investigation and a condition of Nen reinforced by the real possibility that Morena will fail.
With the Objective and Power cards, Morena reveals her desire to destroy Kakin and then humanity, recounts her origin as a Carnival orphan and describes Contagion. She explains that Borksen is a rare Specialist from whom she hopes to obtain an essential ability, although this has not yet been developed.
The Deal card allows Borksen to recover X in exchange for a kiss with Morena, one of the infection conditions. During the proclamation of martial law, Borksen uses the announcements and his questions to determine that the base is not on any bridge, but in a secret space between Tiers 2 and 3 with five entrances.
Borksen learns that the Heil-Ly has twenty-one members and that Morena is then their only Specialist. She asks several times if Morena will give up her goal and always receives the same negative answer, concluding that she cannot sincerely adhere to her project.
The last round leaves him with Back to No. Borksen keeps Return and appears to have won, but then chooses Yes in the graveyard. Morena reveals that she had discreetly marked the Back card: this cheating activated the manipulative component of the game, which now limits her decision to Yes or No and forces her to confirm her membership.
Morena welcomes him in the Heil-Ly. Kissing isn't enough though: Borksen remains level zero until she witnesses a murder committed by Morena or one of her allies. Contagion will then allow Morena to constantly know her level, position and condition until her death, that of Borksen or the attainment of level 100.
Borksen decides to return to his friends while assuming that Contagion can spy on his perceptions. Knowing that she risks being eliminated if another more useful Specialist is found, she finally asks Morena to introduce her to her new comrades before she leaves, already looking for a way to gain enough power to resist them.
ABILITIES & POWERS
Temporary hunter and trained soldier, Borksen is above all remarkable for her intelligence, her composure and her reading of behaviour. Even when abducted, disarmed, and surrounded, she breaks down the odds of the game, spots omissions, uses martial law announcements to locate the cache, and obtains strategic information from Morena about her manpower, access, and Contagion.
His military equipment was removed when he was abducted by the Heil-Ly. The precise nature of the confiscated weapons is not detailed.
AURA PROFILE
Nen & abilities
Dogman and Morena identify Borksen as an extremely rare Specialist. Her interaction with Contagion has probably awakened her aura, but she remains level zero, does not yet have any personal ability and has not completed all the recruitment conditions.
No Hatsu or conscious use of Nen is yet known. Morena is, however, looking for a future capability in her that can fulfill a critical role for the Heil-Ly.
