Ittoku, Cha-R consigliere, questions Franklin in the Tier 5 central mess hall, where he has stayed alone on the logic that Hisoka wants to kill the Spiders and will therefore come to whoever sits still. Franklin denies the Troupe's involvement in the warehouse killing and states plainly that Kakin's treasures will not be touched until Hisoka is dealt with — an accurate answer that gives the family nothing it can act on.

Written in the style of Neon Nostrade's poems. Lovely Ghostwriter had already vanished from Skill Hunter when the Black Whale sailed: this sheet is a reconstruction, not a record.

      The Black Whale sounds its horn and leaves the port of Kakin for the New Continent, at noon on a Sunday. The blast is what opens the Succession Contest: the rules read out at the urn ceremony hold that the contest begins with it, and that a potential heir dying before it would call the whole thing off.
