Biography
Before the trip, Theta, Salkov and three other Tserriednich guardsmen pass the 289th Hunter Exam. She informs the prince of the results, of the Association's lie checks and of the opposing guards who refused or failed. Tserriednich orders him to resume his defensive duties and study the plans of the Black Whale, including its exits, blind spots and reworked areas.
Two hours after departure, Theta and Salkov understand that Kurapika's announcement will push Tserriednich to learn Nen. Theta decides to teach him herself in order to slow down and control his progress. When she meets her guardian Spirit Beast, she is terrified but convinces herself that only she can still contain the prince.
Tserriednich, however, learned at a prodigious speed and mastered Gyo in half a day. When he discovers that a faster method of awakening exists, he accuses Theta of lying to him. She honestly explains that this method would be dangerous, but the Guardian Beast licks her cheek with a barbed tongue and leaves a wound.
After two days, Theta notices that the prince's theoretical reasoning already exceeds her own. She oversees his water divination, which reveals a Specialization of a particularly sinister nature. Understanding that she can no longer slow down her learning, she accelerates the exercises of Ten, Ren and especially Zetsu in order to create an opportunity to eliminate him.
On Sunday evening, Theta asks Tserriednich to hold Zetsu for an hour and tests his concentration with her own aura. When the Guardian Beast appears deprived of energy, it draws its weapon, regrets that its student does not use its genius for good and prepares to commit suicide after having shot it down.
Theta shoots and thinks she kills the prince just before being captivated by Melody's music. Three minutes later, the body and the blood disappeared; Tserriednich stands alive among his guards and claims the shooting was part of training. Her Beast warns Theta that a new lie will rob her of her humanity, then she faints.
Less than fifteen minutes later, Theta wakes up in her room with an infected lesion extending from her cheek. Salkov assumes that the creature keeps the liars alive to make them servants. Theta concludes that the prince's death was an illusion and seeks to determine when it began, without yet understanding Parallel Future.
Borksen then explains to his comrades that Theta and Salkov's change in attitude reveals how dangerous Nen is. During Theta's convalescence, Salkov returned to training and remembered his warnings about Tserriednich's necessarily selfish use of his talent.
On day eleven, Tserriednich activates Zetsu in 3.496 seconds while running, using his phone, and conversing. Salkov thinks of Theta and wonders how to contain such an absurd progression, while fearing that the testimony she gave about the Prince's Beasts has already been altered by Manipulation.
ABILITIES & POWERS
A professional hunter, bodyguard and competent instructor, Theta has excellent theoretical knowledge of the four major principles and several advanced techniques. She quickly analyzes the risks linked to the Beasts of Nen, designs a program to control the awakening of a genie and maintains enough composure to act against a creature capable of detecting her lies.
Handgun used during Zetsu's exercise in an attempt to execute Tserriednich when his Guardian Beast could no longer protect him.
AURA PROFILE
Nen & abilities
Theta sees the aura, uses Nen and knows how to teach it. Its natural affinity remains unknown. She has mastered Ren and Hatsu and can emit a weak aura projectile to test a student's concentration in Zetsu.
Her skill is above all educational and tactical: she knows how to explain the four great principles, introduce advanced exercises and modulate her aura to test a practitioner without hurting them.
